She has taught gourd carving classes for over 20 years, and her work has been featured in numerous crafting books and publications as was as authoring her own "Gourds" book. Her work is available through selected art galleries.

"My favorite burrs are the 1/8" Shank Cylinder Safe End 1/2", and the 3/8" safe end dovetail in yellow and green grits. These work exceptionally well on the curved surface of gourds and also for basswood bird carvings. The burrs don't clog up and they cut quickly. For large wood sculptures, I like the 1/4" shank dovetails, spheres, and shaping wheels."

Lauren Bedard

My name is Lauren Bedard and I’ve been a scroll saw artist for approximately 6 years. I live on beautiful Vancouver Island, and I work from my carport turned wood shop in my home so I can be home with my 3 kids. I began this business making custom nursery signs & business logos but in 2022 changed my business direction to a collection-based model where I release themed collections 2-3x per year. I am continually learning this craft and am inspired by nature around me.

Favorite Burrs:
- 1/8” shank ball nose (orange) for shaping my hardwoods (for example the horns on the highland cow) whisper for smoothing everything . out after using the orange & green.

- 1/8” long taper (yellow) for adding veins, folds etc in leaves and flower petals (also used in the “gills” of my recent fungi pieces).
- 1/8” spheres for hollowing out centers of pieces I want to have a cupped appearance.
